"Heart of Durham" InterOpera with Easington Colliery Band and The Ushaw Chapel Choir

An evening of pride and celebration with something for everyone.

The countryside and the people of County Durham are celebrated in this evening’s concert. InterOpera reprises some of their wonderful past commissions from Durham-born composer Will Todd and introduces an atmospheric new commission, The Promised Child by Julian Philips and Stephen Plaice.

Julian is recognised as one the UK’s most versatile composers. He was the first composer-in-residence at Glyndebourne and Stephen is a well-known dramatist and one of Britain's leading librettists.

The concert, under the experienced baton of Music Director Alistair Dawes, features the rich voice of well-loved Australian soprano Laura Wolk-Levanowicz, described in Opera magazine as “ a star voice …. electrifying, vocally every inch an Aida”. The dramatic baritone is Chris Childs Santos, currently studying with the great Renato Bruson.

InterOpera is delighted to be working with their long-time collaborator and arranger Steve Robson and will be presenting his well-loved piece Condatis. New partners are Easington Colliery Brass Band and the Ushaw Chapel Choir under the direction of Alex Chisholm-Loxley.

With a mixture of well-loved overtures to scintillating opera solos and duets to exciting choruses, this  will be a moving and  evening

Following the concert, don’t miss the chance to meet the artists at the after-show reception.

13th October, 7.30pm in St Cuthbert's Chapel. Bar with food open from 6pm
