"The Wizard & The Typhoon" - Felling Band & Local Bandsmen 4th August
Two young men, born just 15 months and two streets apart in the small railway town of Shildon in the 1860's, ultimately became leading composers in the emerging brass band movement at opposite ends of the world. Today, George Allan's Marches remain favourites worldwide, and Thomas Bulch's music is played by bands in Australia, where he emigrated to and settled. Recent research has uncovered their link, and music from Australia is en-route for you to hear in this incredible concert at Ushaw. Felling Band will be enlarged with additional brass enthusiasts, to perform music by our two local musical heroes. To help relate this fascinating story and showcase newly discovered music alongside timeless classics, we are thrilled to welcome internationally acclaimed conductor Richard Evans, whose ability to make any band sound at its best when playing a march is legendary.
